Proof Positivity: The Fresh Air Fund

Since 1877 Fresh Air Fund has provided free summer vacations to disadvantaged New York children. Currently 200 children need to be placed with host families for August. This is something that they need help with now since the host families are screened. You can host a child from the city they especially need families that will sponsor 9-12 year olds.

“Nearly 10,000 New York City children enjoy free Fresh Air Fund programs annually. In 2007, close to 5,000 children visited volunteer host families in suburbs and small town communities across 13 states from Virginia to Maine and Canada. 3,000 children also attended five Fresh Air camps on a 2,300-acre site in Fishkill, New York. The Fund’s year-round camping program serves an additional 2,000 young people each year. ” Fresh Air Fund

There are tons of benefits for the kids involved with this program. Fresh Air has a camping program, a career awareness program, and a Friendly Town Program.
